The addition of the Monitor self-steering vane necessitated removing the ladder at the transom. As a result, it was time to consider another option for a boarding ladder.
So today I installed the genoa track-mounted Mystic Stainless boarding ladder, which I purchased from Scanmar International, the makers of the Monitor wind vane. Scanmar was very helpful in answering my questions and making sure I got the measurements right.
Haven’t yet actually tried it out for its intended purpose (too cold!), but it was a snap to install! Certainly one of the easier projects.

Uh… what’s wrong with this picture?
Hey Stefan, I don’t follow, can you elaborate?
The ladder appears to be inboard of the lower lifeline.
Ah yes, that’s intentional. Due to the way the ladder curves to clear the cap rail, it ends up inboard of the lifelines when stowed. This is why it’s installed at the lifeline gate, which is opened before deployment.
