I don’t like to post disparaging content, but in this case it may save a fellow cruiser from grief.
I will never ship internationally using DHL again.
If there’s no trouble, it’s fine. But if there’s an issue with your package—like a customs snag—you will not get any support.
In my situation, I’m sure a 60 second conversation would clear things up. But DHL has chosen to completely ignore me.
- Calls to the 800 number get you folks who are unable to help beyond creating a “ticket” and promising someone will get back. No one ever does.
- Support tickets submitted online are received but ignored.
- Emails from DHL cannot be replied to.
- In the mean time, automated emails happily remind you that in a week’s time, your expensive package will be considered abandoned.
I strongly caution you to consider avoiding DHL for this reason.
DHL was great when I lived in Thailand in the early 2000s. Looks like things have changed.
